Our Understanding Mixed Race Identities Training
Our Understanding Mixed Race Identities Training
Our Training Offer
We support teachers, leaders and student support professionals in schools and trusts, in developing their consciousness, confidence and competence in understanding the experiences of mixed-race people in their community.
We will create a safe space for you to explore colourism and the impact it has on people.
We can deliver face to face and virtually, for twilights, INSETs and conferences.
Our Training Session Includes
- Considering the impact of terminology and language when discussing the topic of mixed race identities
- Understanding the complexities around a sense of belonging for students of mixed race identities, particularly at a stage of life of identity seeking and transition for all young people
- Exploring the impact of colourism on young people of mixed race identities
- Identifying practical strategies to create a greater sense of belonging in schools for students of mixed race identities
This session can be adapted and made bespoke for young people of different ages or stages, or for educators working in different roles.
An excellent training session that encouraged reflection on how we can all be mindful of the language we use and the behaviours we model.
Will Quayle, Deputy Headteacher
They have a unique ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise way that is easy to understand. The practical strategies they shared for creating a more inclusive workplace are incredibly valuable. I’m already implementing some of them in my team.
